

To Become A RIBDG Approved Judge
RIBDG is looking to have a judging panel as diverse as the competitors, which means varying talent training, judging experience & knowledge, ethnic backgrounds, and professions. Those that are multilingual (including American Sign Language) and those that are differently abled are strongly encouraged to apply.
Qualities of a RIBDG Judge:
1. People who are trained in and/or has experience with one or more areas of competition
A. Language Arts - for optional essay competitions
B. Photographic Arts - for optional photogenic competitions
C. Various Performance Arts - for talent competitions
D. Has experience with various demographic backgrounds and/or will be open to all ethnic
social, which includes but not limited to ethnic group social norms of talent and
attractiveness knowledge
2. People who can and will give honest concise and constructive written feedback to its competitors
3. People that are dependable

As a judge you will be expected to do the following:

Judge your assigned competition without bias or comparison to other competitors or competitions,

Choice the best competitor to represent their designated titles based on the provided scoring requirements,

Provide positive constructive feedback, that will be given to the competitors after the competitions,

If I am chosen to be Judge #1, I will break the tie depending on my judge’s notes

Will I need to renew the RIBDG Judge's application each year?
Yes, you will need to complete this application annually to remain on the RIBDG approved judges list.

Why do they need my demographic information?
The Demographic information that we request are to ensure that our judging panel is diverse as our competitors.

What types of references should I have for this application?
The two required references should be one (1) professional and one (1) community service. Theses references cannot be completed by a relative by kinship, marriage, or adoption.

What information will need to be included in my reference letters?
Reference letters will need to be complete, (name, date, address, email, current phone, and signed) scanned and uploaded to this online form.

Will I need to apply to be a RIBDG judge annually?
Yes, you will need to reapply annually to be included on our official RIBDG judges list.
